Household Hazardous Waste Day

Starke County Residential Property Owners are welcome to the event to properly dispose of household hazardous waste in a safe, drive-thru environment.  Regulations prohibit the collection of hazardous waste from businesses, churches, schools and non-profits. Starke County Environmental Management District & vendor have the right to refuse any items.

* DO NOT LEAVE ANY TIRES, TELEVISIONS, APPLIANCES, HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE, HOUSEHOLD GARBAGE, FURNITURE, CARPETING OR CLOTHES AT RECYCLING BIN SITES.

Reporting Damage from Heavy Rain and Flooding

Hoosiers Can Report Damage From Heavy Rain and Flooding 

Hoosier homeowners, renters, businesses and private non-profit organizations that sustained uninsured damage caused by severe storms and flooding starting on or after February 15 can report damage online at: http://bit.ly/2018rainfall.

A link to the form is also available on the Indiana Department of Homeland Security (IDHS) website at dhs.in.gov. In the middle of the page under “Featured Topics,” click on ” Heavy Rain and Flooding; February 15, 2018 and continuing.”

Individuals will be asked to provide their name, address, phone number and type of damage the property sustained. Losses can include structural damage to homes and loss of personal property. Information gathered from citizens will assist county and state agencies in determining the scope of damage.

FOR THOSE WITHOUT INTERNET ACCESS
Individuals without Internet access are encouraged to contact a friend, family member or neighbor for assistance. Web access is also available at many libraries, religious institutions, community centers or other public facilities. If none of those options are available, individuals may also contact their county emergency management agency to report damage.

THIS REPORT IS NOT AN APPLICATION FOR ANY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM
This is NOT an application for a grant with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). Information will be used to help local emergency management agencies and the Indiana Department of Homeland Security with preliminary damage assessments and to determine if federal assistance can be pursued.

It’s that time of year again Real Estate Taxes Are due May 10!!

  • The option for e-notices is now going to be an option with your bill.
  • Please bring your statements with you for faster service.
  • If you have not received your bill by please come into the office and see if it has been returned. Please if you have an address change please come in and change it.
  • If you have questions about your assessed value please call the Assessor’s office (574) 772-9107
  • If you have questions regarding your age exemption, disability exemption, veterans exemption, homestead exemption, or mortgage exemption please contact the Auditor’s office (574) 772-9101.
  • Remember Personal property forms are due to the Assessor’s office May 15! (Business owners and Farmers)

TAX PAYMENT DROP OFF LOCATIONS: Bank of Monterey– North Judson and Monterey Locations, 1st Farmers Bank North Judson & Knox, Demotte St Bank-Knox,    1st Source Bank-Knox and there is also a drop box outside the Treasurer’s office in Knox

Payments can be dropped off there with a self-addressed stamped envelope so a Receipt can be sent.

Also payments can still be mailed to our 1st Source Bank in South Bend for processing also.
